Creative Arts Therapies

There are moments in life when it feels like there is no way out, it can feel unsettling, uncomfortable, overwhelming, frustrating, worrisome, terrifying even, and simply too much. In these moments we strive to provide a warm, welcoming, non-judgmental space where you feel supported, understood and reassured. Together we explore the challenges, discover your strengths and collaboratively find creative strategies to help you manage and navigate with a renewed sense of energy and hopefulness. You don’t have to do this alone.

Art as Therapy provides Art Therapy, Drama Therapy, Expressive Arts Therapy & talk psychotherapy for children, youth, their caregivers and adults of all ages online and in person. At Art as Therapy we use a client-centred, strength-based approach to help our clients discover their inner strengths and build the skills necessary to face life’s challenges and manage big emotions. We apply an anti-oppressive, cultural humility, attachment, somatic & trauma informed lens to our work.

At Art as Therapy, our vision is for every individual to recognize their inner power and potential. To be free of all limitations whether self-imposed, diagnosed or societal and feel fearless in facing and overcoming life challenges, circumstances and difficult emotions. The psychotherapists at Art as Therapy are committed in helping their clients imagine new possibilities for change, enhance existing skills, learn new ones, and implement different ways of engaging in their world.

Our mission

As a team we are committed to advancing the welfare of our clients, as well as maintaining objectivity, integrity, and confidentiality. We strive to uphold high standards of professional competence and service by following the ethical guidelines outlined by the Canadian Art Therapy Association, Ontario Art Therapy Association, the College of Registered Psychotherapists in Ontario, and other applicable regulating bodies. We are committed to walking towards reconciliation, reflecting continuously on our power, privilege and biases, and adding our voice to advocacy efforts to ensure a more equitable and anti-oppressive space beyond the therapy office. We are committed to challenging the institutions that we are members of, because change needs to start at home. We practice radical hospitality by offering a warm, friendly, confidential space for clients to explore their creativity and discover their inner power.
